Accordingly, employment with members of the Six Mile - Nika JV or its subcontractors under its contract for Base Operation Support Services at the United States Coast Guard Base in Kodiak will not be subject to the terms and conditions of employees' previous collective bargaining agreement with Choctaw Defense Services.
Employment with members of the Six Mile-Nika JV or its subcontractors under the Base Operation Support Services Contract at the United States Coast Guard Base in Kodiak will be subject to new terms and conditions of employment, subject to certain requirements under Section 4(c) the Service Contract Act or as otherwise required by applicable law.
JOB OVERVIEW Six Mile, LLC (SML) is seeking a Painter to provide support to a base operations support services contract in Kodiak, AK! This position paints the interior and exterior of structures, buildings and other surfaces.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.
g.
plaster).
Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture.
Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools.
Apply varnish and other finishes.
Calculate costs and negotiate prices.
Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU High school graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of an apprenticeship.
Proven experience as a painter.
Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them.
Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques.
Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.
).
Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
Conscientious with great attention to detail.
Experience in painting with various tools and in various heights and spaces while observing all safety measures.
Must be reliable and possess great attention to detail in completing their duties.
Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
